A Letter from Kenny to his fans. . .
Dear Friends...
I want to thank each of you personally for your part in this 4th Entertainer of the Year Award... You are not just the reason we do this, you are a lot of what makes us Entertainer of the Year. Beyond even your votes - which were critical - but the way you inspire me and the guys. We are more because you give so much... and I want to make sure you know how much I appreciate you, and how much a part of this you guys are.
Just hearing the sounds from the parking lot when everyone's out grilling and hanging with their friends makes me wanna get out there and rock. To be part of that kind of a good time is the reason I started going to shows, and it's absolutely why I live to do this.
Which is part of the confusion over my response to the change in the awards criteria. There's a lot more to being Entertainer of the Year than what we show you... and that's because I want the music to just be your music, your songs, your life - the way it was for me. I've always been a bit uncomfortable with the amount of information that gets out there about how many trucks, how we do the effects, those sorts of things... because I don't want it to be about semis, I want what we do to be about that moment when you hear the music and we hear you.
To me, Entertainer of the Year is about the work that goes into it. I don't ever want you worrying about the work; I want you living the songs... being in the moment of the music... finding your life on the radio, whether it's something easy like "Summertime" or a song that helps you through a rough time like "I Go Back" or "There Goes My Life."
That was my point. Let the people who do the work, judge the work part of it... let the fans love what we do for that. And that was what I was being asked about... what a lot of people in the business were talking about... and frankly something an awful lot of artists and business people have told me they not only agree with, but something the entire media room applauded pretty resoundingly after I addressed it Sunday night.
Sure, to make me sound ungrateful is a sexy way to spin this to drive viewers. It's controversy, and that sells. But realistically - and based on the response in our fan forum - you know how important you are to me, how much I believe in the way we've all built this together. You, the fans, are the reason I keep pushing, keep striving, keep wanting to be more and better.
When I stood on the stage and said "this means the world to me," I meant it... because it means not only am I blessed with the best fans in the world, but you guys were willing to stand up for us and be counted. It's not the same award... given for the same things... but knowing how much you care, how much you believe in this dream, well, that is everything.
So please know... I love you. I believe in you - and the way you believe in this music, these nights we get to share, the way it all comes together when we're together. There is nothing like the feeling of being out there with you guys... and I live my whole life just for those moments. Thank you for that, because in the end, that is what matters the most to me.

Kenny Chesney and I
I have 2 favorites and Kenny is definately one of them. Kenny is a great singer and a confident person, He has inspired me in my live in many ways, Sometimes I think Can Kenny do this??? If he could do this then I can. Someday before I leave this earth I would love to meet him, Kenny is from Tennesse and I am from Kentucky I think his parents/mom taught him well and to respect people just as my parents taught me.
You should ALWAYS treat someone the way you want to be treated. It doesnt matter about the color of the skin, how tall they are, how short they are or etc!!! Kenny works hard at what he does and has earned his way to fortune and fame, I wish only the BEST for him !!
I love you Kenny.

My Opinion
I like Kenny a lot but I have always felt the only reason he gets Entertainer of the Year is because of the big concert tour he does with many of the other BIG country stars. I really believe he does it because he wants to win that award. The comments he made makes me think it even more. He was really worried he wasn't going to get it again since it was being voted for by the fans. Most of the time there is someone with him that I like more than him and this year is no exception. In my mind Keith Urban should be the Entertainer of the Year! He is the most multi talented and his most recent show he did at the Palace was the MOST entertaining concert I have ever been to! Everyone I was with also agreed. Well there is always next year!

Kenny is ENTERTAINER
When you get hurt on stage and you continue the concert as planned, that is when you are something special. Many others may have took a break and come back out, but not Kenny. He caught his breath, and right back to work. GOOD GOIN! I love his music!

Kenny Chesney Comments Taken Out of Context
I truly believe that Kenny is the Entertainer of the Year! If you%u2019ve ever been to his concerts you know what I mean and why his fans chose him for the Entertainer of the Year! I also believe that the media really takes things out of context to just stir the pot! They all have a job to do and as Kenny has put it, it's controversy, and that sells. When Kenny was on stage, you could see how emotional he was and to say that he is ungrateful is outrageous! I really believe Kenny when he says, %u201CI love you. I believe in you - and the way you believe in this music, these nights we get to share, the way it all comes together when we're together. There is nothing like the feeling of being out there with you guys... and I live my whole life just for those moments. Thank you for that, because in the end, that is what matters the most to me.%u201D I just want to say Thank you Kenny for your hard work and dedication to your fans and what you believe in! -- Tammy Smith, MI

Give Kenny a break
I can fully understand where he is coming from and the fact that he was truthful seems to bother people before they look behind the words and the reasons for those words. Kenny, I cheer you on and feel that you are right that they just want something negative to try to say about you because they know how strong and loving your fans are and want to put a crack in it, well for this ole gal they can't. I love the sunshine, the beach, the water, your boat and more importantly you and your music. So hang in there as your true fans know the truth that you appreciate each and everyone of us. YOU GO KENNY!
See ya in August, Terry Scott

Kenny Deserves ENTERTAINER
I just wanted to let Kenny know that he is a wonderful entertainer and he has always shown that he appreciates his fans!! I have been to two of his concerts here in Detroit, and this year will be my 3rd year (I got Sandbar this year too!!). By Kenny bringing other entertainers with him, he has the thoughts of his fans in mind so that he can give them the most of a show that he can for their devotion. This show is so much more than a regular concert. I believe Kenny thrives on us, just as much as we do on him and his music. I admire his work ethics and the thought that goes into every part of his performance whether it be before the concert or during. I hope to meet him someday because he is so down to earth for being a well known and recognized performer. You Deserve Entertainer of the Year Kenny!! Darlene G., MI

Questions for Kenney
I believe that Kenney always does his music for his fans so I am confused as to why he is upset that the fans were the ones voting. It just shows you how loyal the fans are but don't forget Kenney they can change their minds!!!!

Kenny
I think that Kennys words were taken out of context. He deserved to win Entertainer of the year. He is a great talent, and we are better for his music. I think that he does not want this award show to become a popularity contest. Keep on singing those great songs Kenny, we will still be here to listen to them and enjoy.

hmm
I agree with Kenny on this. The only 'beef' I ever had is that Toby Keith never gets rewarded for the work that he does. He wasn't even a nominee...that is flat out insulting I think.

I SUPPORT KENNY!
I agree with Kenny 100%!!!! Would the Academy let the fans pick "Best Movie" at the Oscars???? I think not. It's been this way for 43 years, why change the process now?

Karen
I love all your songs. I think that Entertainer of the Year should be a permanant one. Your the best and your my favorite. I wish I could afford to attend your concert @ Ford Field. Keep the energy, you will need it next year when you win it all.
Love You Kenny

Kenny Rocks!
I went to my first Kenny concert last year at Ford Field, Detroit, MI and after seeing you, I firmly believe you are definitely Entertainer of the Year. People say, let someone else have it, but if you've ever seen Kenny in concert, you truly deserve it. CONGRATS and look forward to seeing you at Ford Field this year.

Great Songs
Kenny writes the songs that touch hearts in different ways...I lost my brother in March of 07' and find so much comfort in the song Who You'd Be Today.....the words are so true for me and I take so much comfort in the last words "I'll see you again some day". I live in Detroit and NEVER missed a KC show. He is one of the best and TOTALLY deserves the awards he gets! See you in Aug. Kenny!

It's okay Kenny, we know how you feel
The problem with the media, is they have the advantage of showing only what they want to show. We have no clue what was said completely backstage. Only a short portion was shown. I belive Kenny when he says that the fans mean the world to him. Only a fool would smite the fans, everyone knows that the fans are the most important element in this industry. So do I think Kenny didn't appreciate the fans voting for him? NO I believe that he was talking about something entirely diferent than we know about.
