Brag or Rag!

Hi! It's Jyl Forsyth hoping you had a Happy Thanksgiving Day with your family and friends.

I'd like to say the reason I didn't bake any of these pies was because T-Rob and I were broadcasting live from the Thanksgiving Parade from 6 am to 12 noon but truth be told, I have a wonderful husband who deserves some bragging about. My mom asked us to bring the pies and whipped cream for the Thanksgiving Feast, and lo and behold, Brett decided to bake the pies himself!  He has never baked a pie and you can tell by the pictures.....he definitely earned his "Braggin' Rights"......or I guess I should say "I Did"!!

This blog is for you to BRAG or RAG about your significant others contributions to the Thanksgiving Feast. Did he sit in front of the TV watching football asking you to bring his next beverage? OR....did he give you something to "brag" about. To Rag? or Brag? C'mom sisters, I really want to hear from you!

Aren't those pies gorgeous!  They were oh so tasty too!

Brag or Rag!
As for me, I'm braggin'! How about you?
11/23/2007 4:56PM
Awesome!
Tell Brett that those pies are beautiful! Maybe he missed his calling! My husband did all the prep work of the vegetables for the dressing and taters, so all I had to do was cook! We both got to watch football - it was a very quiet Thanksgiving and wehave much to be thankful for! (Does Brett have a Pie mail order service yet?)

I love this blog Jyl.
I get to rag and brag. My husband didn't lift a finger, but he did work overtime this week so we could have the family over for the holiday. He brought home the bacon so for that we are truly grateful. I did the rest. Love the comment about the pie mail service for your hubby. The pies look wonderful, and I'll be waiting too. my grumpy hubby
who got layed off in May just moped and did nothing to help us. Me and the kids did everything. He is just a miserable person. Nothing to brag about that's for sure. I know a lot of people are out of work in MI right now. You'd think he was the only one. Still grateful for my wonderful kids who helped me in and did the dishes too. Mrs. M in Canton

Hi Jyl this reminds me of
Bonnie Raitt's song "Lets Give Em' Something to Talk About." Brett's pies are beautiful, what kind of pies did he make? My husband gave me something to rag about. Like Always. He just showed up. No conversation, just TV, eat and back to TV. ButI figure after 27 years of marriage, he won't be changing any time soon. I still love him but I'll be trying to think of something to brag about before the blog is over. Tia

Help, Please!
He never helped , unless it was to say it wasnt right. I divorced! Had a great turkey day this year.

RAG!!
My husband and I separated. Thought we'd try and do Thanksgiving as a family unit (with the kids and relatives)...he came drunk and was smoking in the house. Such a heartbreaker. After all the work that goes into a Thanksgiving dinner, he couldn't even stay sober for one day. We did our best to be grateful for our family, but it's sad to watch my childrens father be such a you know what. Thanks for letting me have a place to vent and see that I'm not alone out here. Can I brag on myself?
I'm a single father of 2 boys. I did the turkey and the fixins' all by myself. My boys are 4 and 7 and they got a big kick out of seeing ole dad in an apron. We had a great time together. They even ate my bean casserole which they never would have touched before. p.s. if you'd have asked me 5 years ago if could do an entire Thanksgiving dinner, I'd have died laughing. My ex-wife moved to another state and I got to keep my boys. They are my life and I want to keep everything as normal as possible. My sons read these so to my 7 year old, Carl who reads to his younger brother Jason I love you. I couldn't be a Prouder Dad in Warren.

Happy Holidays my Friends
it's Jyl. Brett made 2 pumpkin pies, 1 upside down pecan pie (his own creation)which would have worked if he'd added butter or cream, :O) hard but still tasty, a pumpkin with chocoate/peanut butter chips and a pumpkin with toffee chips. The night before Thanksgiving, he made one for us to sample...I hate to tell ya this but we ate the whole pie!! oinky us!! So this holiday I ate 1 pie myself. (I'm not proud) They were so yummy! Tonight he made spagetti. Since he's been layed off I've been getting lots of great home cooked meals. He is trying so hard to find a tooling engineer job and as you know, there are so few jobs to be had. He keeps plugging along, and although I love his home cookin' everynight, he can't hold on much longer without some money coming in. I know we aren't alone! love you bunches, Jyl

The Sweetest Man Ever!!!
This was my first Thanksgiving away from Michigan, my son and I moved to Virginia in September. My boyfriend made Chocolate Peanut butter fudge to take to dinner with us. The only complaint from the family was that there wasn't enough of it!!! It wasdelicious. You gotta love a man who can work a 12 hour day and come home and make candy!! I'm so proud and thankful!!! I'm a half and halfer
My husband helps but non stop complains. If only he'd stop griping and put a smile on his face, it would make the day so much nicer. maybe he'll see this and get the hint. I try to tell him but it goes in one ear and out the next. marsha in Woodhaven ps. Hi harry! xoxo's

Hi Jyl.
After reading Docs blog, it's a good thing he didn't make mince meat pie! Sounds like a non-winner with WYCD listeners, myself & my family include. Your husband seems like a gem. Merry Christmas to you and everyone at my favorite radio station. Gina Lake Orion

to be honest
I'm raggin' on myself for eating too much of my own cooking! I did the work and enjoyed the process. some hubby help would be nice but he did bring home wood for fire and "kept puttin' another log on the fire" remember that ole Tompall and the Glaser Bros song. I ate too much. I'm raggin on me!! Gotta lost the lbs before the next big feast or my jeans won't fit. Tammy

Have to Brag
I worked Wednesday night at the bar (really busy night) so as you can tell I wasn't ready to make any meal at 8am. Well my husband made the whole meal, and I did the dishes. He is the best when it comes to things like this.

I have a cookin' husband!
My hubby is the cook at our house - not just on Thanksgiving either! He makes the mess and I clean it up (with the help of my daughter). By the way - he doesn't cook/bake from a box ... can you say 'from scratch'? A couple of weekends ago, he wasn't feeling well so my daughter and I made dinner. We had pumpkin soup and corn bread. I took care of the soup and she made the corn bread - he actually liked what we put together!!! OH NO ... what have I done?? :) Love the blog Jyl! Vicki - Clarkston

Always help'n in the kitchen
Hey Jill My wife is a wonderful woman and after 26 years of marriage is finnally becoming a great cook, but I am still the chef in the family. I made the turkey, the mashed potatoes, the sweet potatoes and she made the green bean casserole, beets and bread. We make a great team. She recently has found that she has some growth of some sort on her thyroid, so it was a little more difficault hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year but she is a trooper and, inspite of concerns for what it might turn out to be, she was a wonderful hostess. I am taking her to Kalamazoo this weekend for her favorite Christmas concert - John Berry at the State Theatre. It's going to be a great show. If you and Brett aren't busy, why don't you come along? Brett sounds great. Hope we can meet him one day. Dan

I have to brag again.....
my husband is now coming with me to the Christmas show because he doesn't want me to drive in my teeny car if the big snow comes. Isn't that so nice? He also bought me the 12 days of Christmas ornaments today...since we met he has bought me an ornament for my tree. I'm super sentimental that way. These are little and detailed so charming. One more brag...after work tonight, I get homemade nacho's. I want to keep hearing about you too. My dad is still really sick, but recovering slowing in a rehab now, so it's nice to get a balance during the tough times to have someone be there for you. I'm here for you every night so please if you need a friend. Call me. Or Blog. I care. Your longtime friend, Jyl
