CHEVY SALUTES AMERICAN HEROS! The men and women who serve. They exemplify a time-honored spirit of courage, dedication, and teamwork. 99.5 WYCD is sharing in Chevy's committment to giving back!
The search is on for Chevy's Salute to American heroes! Over the last few weeks, people all over the country submitted who they thought was their "American Hero!" We are proud and honored that one of our finest from Michigan, is among the five finalists and we know that YOU, our great family of listeners, can help honor this man, TSgt Kurt P. Brunsman II, a Station Chief Firefighter for the 127th Wing Fire Department at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI.
In response to 99.5 WYCD's communication with TSgt Brunsman, he stated, "My wife SSgt Sarah Brunsman nominated me for this contest. Making it this far is more than I could have ever imagined. This is truly an honor to represent the Base, Community and the great state of Michigan. You have no idea how much I appreciate you helping out my cause. In my opinion the "Real American Heroes" are the men and woman like yourself that support what we do. Without your support we would not be able to accomplish our mission safely and efficiently, Thus allowing us a safe return here to the "Land Of The Free" home. Every American has a role in life and the only difference between soldiers and American civilians is a "UNIFORM".
Here is the entry, submitted by SSgt Sarah Brunsman:
Kurt Brunsman Living the Dream
My husband is one of the most courageous firefighters I know. While he was deployed to Iraq he helped save many lives and extircate carrs in Iraq dropping down from the helicopters in dangerous zones. It is not the things he did while in Iraq that makes him a hero to me, it is the man that he is day in and day out. he is one of the most positive, forgiving, thoughtful people I know. He coaches basketball in his off time. He loves his family more than anything in the world and it shows day in and day out. He sacrifices not only his body for his familly and country, he puts his sould into it as well. He lives and breathes to make his job and life better for the people around him. This man can light up the room with his smile and charisma. When people say thank you for the job you do and the blanket of freedom that we provide, most soldiers would just nod their head and say thank you. My husbands says, "No thank you for what you do every day, it is just a job that I love to do." ~ Sarah Brunsman
