Local Competition Rules
WYCD (FM)
1. The Colgate Country Showdown Local Competition (the “Local Competition”) will be conducted in accordance with the official Rules and Regulations of the Colgate Country Showdown unless otherwise provided herein. All competitor performances must meet the requirements set forth in the official Rules and Regulations.
2. To participate in the Local Competition, entrants must send an audio tape or CD (no more than sixty seconds in length), of their singing and/or instrumental ability. Entries must be accompanied by the Entrant’s name, address, phone number, and date of birth. Entries must also include a check or money order to the name of Colgate Showdown in the amount of $10 to cover processing fees of the Colgate Showdown. Entries will be accepted beginning Monday, May 5th, and all entries must be received by 5:30pm May 23, 2007. Entries may be mailed to WYCD, 26555 Evergreen, Suite 675, Southfield, MI 48076, or they may be dropped off at the WYCD studios. No entries will be returned. WYCD is not responsible for entries lost or damaged in the mail.
3. The Local Competition is open to all persons who are 18 years of age or older. Employees of WYCD, its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, its affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other radio stations in the Detroit metropolitan area and the members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate.
4. WYCD will review and judge all eligible entries based on singing/instrumental ability and will choose six (3) finalists (the “Finalists”). The decisions of WYCD shall be final.
5. The Finalists will win the opportunity to perform at the Belleville Strawberry Festival on June 14th from 1P-3P. The winner of the Belleville Strawberry Festival will be chosen to attend the State Competition of the Colgate Country Showdown at the Michigan State Fair on August 30, 2008. Performances by the Finalists will be judged based on the judging criteria set forth in the official Rules and Regulations of the Colgate Country Showdown. Decisions of judges are final.
6. No other prizes will be awarded to the Finalists other than the opportunity to perform at the Belleville Strawberry Festival. Finalists will be solely responsible for all expenses related to his/her participation in the Belleville Strawberry Festival.
7. The winner of the competition at the Belleville Strawberry Festival will obtain the opportunity to perform at the State Competition of the Colgate Country Showdown at the Michigan State Fair, and will be solely responsible for all expenses related to his/her participation in that competition, including but not limited to travel, accommodations and meals.
8. By participating in the Local Competition, Finalists agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize.
9. Finalists will be required to sign a liability release pursuant to which the winner will agree to hold WYCD, its corporate licensee, parent corporations, subsidiaries and affiliates, affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from participation at all levels of the Colgate Country Showdown.
10. WYCD reserves the right to make changes in the Local Competition rules, which will become effective upon announcement. If due to circumstances beyond the control of the station, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed, cancelled or has a change of venue, WYCD reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or terminate the contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.
11. Failure to comply with the Local Competition rules may result in an entrant’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of WYCD.
12. WYCD is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the competition or in the announcement of the winner.
13. Copies of the written Local Competition rules are available during regular business hours at the main studio of WYCD, 26555 Evergreen, Suite 675, Southfield, Michigan, 48076, or by sending a self addressed, stamped envelope to WYCD.
