Steve Grunwald - Nov. 2007

Steve Grunwald hails from Wixon and claims Detroit as home for the last nine years, is the well known on-air talent and executive producer at 99.5 WYCD of The Dr. Don Morning Show!

As Steve tells of his beginnings in radio, "When I was 15-years-old in Webster City, Iowa, the program director of a radio station there — it was a small town — went to our church. I've always been fascinated with radio ever since I can remember. I've always listened to the radio and music; it was something I had just always wanted to do. Eventually, after bugging them long enough, and going in there and practicing at night in an empty studio, they gave me a chance and hired me part-time. From there, I did it all the way through high school and college. I've been all over the country; I've worked in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, and a bunch of other radio stations."

Prior to coming to WYCD, Steve worked at WDRQ before it switched formats.  Everyone was replaced and it worked out for Grunwald and 99.5 WYCD perfectly.  As Steve puts it "WYCD is the best place I've ever worked — I love the people I work with, I love my bosses, I love country music, and the format. It's stress-free, and I'm having the time of my life."

Steve's support of the Military at home and abroad, as well as projects at home in our own community, has taken him many places during his time with WYCD.  From his trip to the Amazon, to his journey during WYCD's Operation Yellow Ribbon last November in Iraq with the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, to his recent trip to Africa, to the classrooms of children in Metro Detroit, he has been able to share WYCD's mission of support and service in giving back to the community and world in which we live.

On a more personal note, Grunwald is a single guy, who lives alone.  He loves animals and would have a dozen if it weren't for the fact that he is gone so much and "it wouldn't be fair to leave them alone so much."  He loves sun, sand, and water and wants to continue to travel the world.

You can tune in to Steve on 99.5 WYCD, Monday through Friday, from 5 to 10 a.m. and catch him doing what he loves and does best, laughing and joking, and getting us all through our busy mornings!

Here's a parody on Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take The Wheel" that I thought you would enjoy to bring a laugh to your day!  Click below to watch "Cletus Take The Reel!"

GLI Hockey Games
I think Rachael should eat crow sandwhich and dog soup for her comments made a couple weeks ago about how she said the Spartans would whip the MTU Huskies at the Great Lakes Inventational Hockey Tournament. I knew she was in trouble when she made those comments on air because the Huskies play very well on Friday nights and have knocked-off other top ten hockey teams this year-beware wolverines the Huskies are for real! Discussion point
So it seems to me that you love your job and that it honestly brings you joy. As a 25 year old who has only been in the "working world" 3 years...I need to know if most people truly enjoy their jobs. While I make good money at my job, it just doesn'tbring me joy and I want to believe that people out there truly find satisfaction in what they do, but I need some proof. Maybe this could be an on-air discussion...

Question
I am very new to the internet world and I really want to see the video of you and Jason in the diapers. I can't find it. Where do I look?
02/16/2008 8:37AM
Re: Diaper video!
Hey! Thanks for asking! Just go to the Home page (Click our logo at the top left) and on the video player (Center) you will see a list of videos, click on the description of the one called "The Diaper Run!" It will take a few seconds to load - turn up your volume and it will play! Thanks for visiting my page! Grunwald

Diaper Run
Hey Grunwald. Thanks for the tip so I could see how insane you and Jason are. I would have to say that you two are TOTALLY insane. BTW, Rachel & Dr. Don have painted a really "different" picture of you. I expected to see someone that was very large and looked like a slob. Not so! Can't wait to find out what you're next insane adventure will be. Hopefully something not so cold. haha. Kelly Baxter from Canada
