Rachael's Entertainment News for Friday, January 4, 2008

Pop star Britney Spears has arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. TMZ.com reports as Spears was being unloaded from an ambulance, she flipped off the scores of paparazzi waiting to snag a photo of the troubled star. Spears was whisked away from her Beverly Hills home by ambulance on what is called a "medical hold."  Police officers were called to her home yesterday evening after she reportedly refused to turn over her children to bodyguards for her ex-husband Kevin Federline after her scheduled visitation ended. Officers at the home are said to have found Spears to be under the influence of an "unknown substance."

This latest development comes after Spears arrived nearly two hours late yesterday for her deposition in her ongoing custody battle with Federline. K-Fed currently has custody of the boys, while Spears has supervised visitation rights.

Baggy dress or baby bump? That's the question on everyone's mind after The Sun posted pictures of Nicole Kidman with what could possibly be the first signs of pregnancy. Last week the UK Press reported that Nicole and hubby Keith Urban announced to their families over Christmas that they were expecting their first child together. Nicole's rep quickly denied the report, although the photo may be a sign that the publicist was lying.

Little Big Town's Phillip Sweet is a new daddy! Phillip and his wife, Rebecca, welcomed daughter Penelopi Jane on December 27th. The baby weighed six pounds, four ounces. Penelopi is the couple's first child.

Keith Anderson earned his very first Number One hit as a songwriter last year with Big & Rich's "Lost In This Moment." Keith took the opportunity to reward himself with a splurge on a “really nice mountain bike”.

A sunset wedding on the beach in Bora Bora may be romantic, but the marriage is not exactly legal. Actor Eddie Murphy and his bride Tracey Edmonds, who swapped vows January 1st in the French Polynesian island paradise, will have to go through proper channels on U.S. soil in order to have their bond recognized. The nuptials aren't recognized in Bora Bora either, since neither the bride nor groom are legal residents of the Tahitian outpost.

Donald Trump returned to primetime last night with the season premiere of The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. Out of the 14 original contestants, it was Playboy Playmate Tiffany Fallon who got fired first. Tiffany is the wife of Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney. The remaining celebrity contestants are supermodel Carol Alt, Gene Simmons of the rock band Kiss, softball gold medalist Jennie Finch, boxing champ Lennox Lewis, actress Marilu Henner, gymnastic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci, producer Nely Galan, reality TV personality Omarosa, America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, actor Stephen Baldwin, fighter Tito Ortiz, country singer Trace Adkins, and Sopranos star Vinnie Pastore

So much for sobriety...TMZ has video of the recently rehabbed Lindsay Lohan drinking champagne straight from the bottle while celebrating New Year's Eve in Capri. Lohan's lawyer Blair Berk confirmed the slip saying, "The good news was that Lindsay stopped herself that night, called her sponsor, and got herself immediately back on track. There is no magic cure here. The most unfortunate part of this is that Lindsay has to share her 'one day at a time' with the entire world."

It looks like Pamela Anderson is moving forward with her divorce from Rick Salomon. Although last month, one day after she filed papers ending their two-month marriage, she claimed they were "working things out,"  new legal documents indicate that she is indeed ending the union. Salomon was reportedly served with divorce papers on December 15th. Salomon now has 30 days to respond to the claim.

It's a good thing Tom Cruise is worth $250 million because according to reports, he sure likes spending it! "Tom is really into money," says a source. "He has no problem spending it. It makes him feel powerful. He loves to brag about his Porsches, his homes, his planes and his motorcycles."  He also, apparently, likes to share the wealth. "When Tom and wife Katie Holmes go out, he has his security people hand $100 bills to anyone who helps him, even someone who opens a door,"  said the insider. "He's a big giver."

Eric Dane is going to great, and painful, lengths to please his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart. Grey's Anatomy's McSteamy is undergoing laser surgery to have a tattoo of a naked woman removed from his arm. "The surgery is painful because it's in a tender place," said a source. "But Eric thinks it's worth it to keep Rebecca happy."

Although it seems unlikely, reports say that Angelina Jolie has ended her bitter feud with dad Jon Voight. Jolie reportedly took the first step towards reconciliation by phoning her dad on Christmas Day. "It was a short call, but it meant the world to both of them,"  said a source. "It was something for them to build on, and Jon couldn't say enough good things about the way his daughter is conducting her life."

"As I sit here in my living room, surrounded by memories of times past, I see photographs of happier times.
