The Blackberry Creek Dance Team is a group of approximately one dozen ladies from The Detroit Metropolitan Area.
Their common love of dance and country music have brought them together as a performance and demonstration team. Although these ladies are not professional dancers, they are committed to professional performance and demonstrations whenever they are asked to dance. Their mission is to spread the phenomenon and fun of country line dancing throughout Southeast Michigan (and beyond).
Their performances are unique routines, choreographed by founder, Helen Azelio and several of the teams members, which usually encompass two or more line dances in an eye-catching,foot stomping performance.
Likewise, the team is also available to teach beginner/ intermediate line dances at various functions throughout the year. They have added a little lively fun to more than one party or two around the Detroit area over the past ten years. They have been annual performers each year at the Home and Builders show at Cobo Hall, The WYCD Downtown Hoedown at Hart Plaza, The Michigan State Fair and the Festival of Trees in addition to numerous local celebrations,charity events and nursing homes. Named in honor of her rural Kentucky hometown. Helen manages the Blackberry Creek Dancers like the "Steel Magnolia" that she is. She shares her ideals of teamwork and performance ethics with each dancer and expects no more from them than she does of herself. Consequently, the Blackberry Creek Dancers are committed to excellence and fun and they have been able to uniqely blend these two comittments with a flair that can only be experienced in their twirling skirts, white-fringed boots and their beautiful smiles.
