September 17th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Today we were talking about the retired school teacher from Novi, David Armstrong.  David who is 62 rode his bike from Farmington Hills to Alaska & back. 7200 miles.  It was the only thing on his bucket list.  He gets home this Sunday.  I think its so awesome that he did it.  I wanted to share a few things from my bucket list. These are all the things I want to do before I die.  Some of them are very personal and I will share a few with you.

#1 Visit Maldives & learn to spear fish

#2 Vacation at the St Regis Bora Bora in a over the water hut

#3 Fall In Love ( I didnt say they would all come true ha ha )

#4 Fish in Alaska

#5 Learn to surf on my paddle board

#6 Pay cash for my next SUV

#7 Buy a boat when I retire

#8 Retire on the water someplace warm

#9 Serve in the Peace Corp after Daisy is gone or give back for 24 months somewhere in the world.  I feel life has been good to me so giving back is important to me.

#10 Be happy with my body & get in shape

Daisy & Me

June 18th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Its been 2 months now that Daisy and I have been together.  We are doing great.  She is much happier and seems to be very comfortable.  We are going to the dog park as much as possible and she loves to run and play with the other dogs.  She sleeps next to me on the bed and when she is out she wont move.  She is like a teenager trying to get her up in the morning.  I found a great dog park just outside of Wixom on Pontiac Trail.  Lyon Oaks Park.  If you want a great place to take your dogs this would be it.  You just need a daily pass and its a couple of $.  If your heading out that way let me know I might be there.

2 Weeks now with Daisy!

June 2nd, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

I have to admit that I was very nervous on getting a dog.  Worried if the dog hair would drive me crazy and letting her out all the time & so on.  But Daisy is a dream.  I love her so much and she makes me so happy.  I think she calms me and keeps me relaxed.  Its the best thing i have ever done.  We have been going to the dog park with my friend Drew and his two Boxers. ( Max & Leo )  They are pretty wild but she runs and plays with them very well.  She is a happy dog and i can see that she is really coming out of her shell.  I am happy I can change a dogs life like this.  I hate leaving her in the morning I wish I could take her to work.  Well I tried to sneak her in but the Mgt of the Travelers Bldg was walking by when we hit the stairs.  NOT GOOD.  Needless to say that was the end of that.  If anyone ever wants to have  a play date let me know Daisy loves to meet new friends.   Steve

Grunwald & Daisy spend the weekend together!

May 10th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

I found the perfect rescue dog last week & her name is Daisy.  I am in the process of adopting her.  She will be 2 in Aug.  I am spending time with her and having her at my house slowly.  I dont want it to be a shock to her when she moves in.  I am picking her up Thursday and then she will be here 24/7.  She is adjusting very well and is very comfortable here. We had a great weekend and yes she did snuggle with me in bed.  I was not sure if i was going to let her on the bed and couch but I caved.  Plus her foster family lets her so I figure it will be a tough habit to break now.  After going to PETSMART and getting a few things for her i never realized how expensive $$$$ dogs can be.  I am very excited about having her here but I am sure it will take us both  a bit of time to get used to each other.  I dont think I will be as lonely and I think she will do a good job of helping me stay calm with the stress of work.  Here are some pictures of her in my front yard.  I will write more when I sign the papers Thursday.Me

IS DAISY FOR ME? I met her Sat for the first time.

May 3rd, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

As you know I have been thinking about getting a dog for a while now.  It is something that I really dont want to rush into.  I want it to be the right fit for both of us.  I have been looking at dogs that are in a shelter.  Right now most shelters are so full they dont have room for anymore animals.  Its sad people are just giving up on them.  I have been looking at PETFINDER.COM  What a great site you can find so many great pets on there.  I found Daisy on the site and met her Sat at PETSMART in Northville.  She was out there for the day.  She is a pit mix and is very sweet. She likes to snuggle and needs lots of love.  She has been in a foster home for a year now.  So I think over the next week or so I will spend some time with her and see how we do with each other.  I dont want to just bring her home.  I think it will be a big shock with her.  She has had a lot of hardship in her life and I want to go easy on her because it is an adjustment.  I am going to get together with her again this week and i will let you know how it goes.

My New Class……Mindfulness Meditation

April 16th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Last night was my first class on Mindfulness Meditation.  It was nothing like I expected.  There were about 20 people in the class.  I was the youngest.  Most people had taken the class or something of the sort.  Its a 6 week class that is put on by Providence Hospital.  Nothing Kooky Dr Schubiner has been teaching this for 15 years.  It was very different and I think I am really going to like it.  Its so simple yet so hard.  I know that doesnt make sense but I guess I need to go to a few more classes.  Have you done anything like this?  I am just trying to get some of the stress out of my life and i think this will help.  More next week. Me

GRUNWALD IS TAKING A NEW CLASS

April 15th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Tonight is the first night of a class I will be taking every week.  Its a 2 hour class that runs for 8 weeks.  I bet you will never guess in a million years what it is.  HMM Nope not what your thinking.  I think it will be good for me and help me with life.  READY? Its a meditation class.  A doctor friend of mine recommended it to me.  He has taken it and loved it.  I think with everything going on in life and the stress of the economy everyone could benefit.  So I will let you know tomorrow what I think of it.  I hope tonight wont be the last time I go.  HA HA  I am trying to keep an open mind.Me

PHONE PROBLEMS…..AGAIN

March 22nd, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Remember the days we did not have cell phones?  How much easier things were.  I wish it was still that simple again.  My I Phone has been giving me problems all weekend.  I was so wild that I even went and got a replacement phone because it was not working.  Then I lost all the contacts in my phone.  Somehow this fool deleted them all.  Then i tried to get them back and only got 80% of them back.  After another 1 hour on the phone with ATT they told me that 6 months ago they didnt switch a SIM card # and my phone didnt recognize each other.  Thus the dropped calls and phone working on and off the last 6 months. I swear to god I almost threw my phone on my sidewalk.  I bet i wasted 12-16 hours this weekend calling APPLE & ATT.  Anyway thanks for letting me vent.

MY YARD IS A MESS! DAMN MOLES

March 15th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

Well the nice weather is here and with the ground warming up i have the mole problem again.  I am so angry and upset i could scream.  I walked around my yard Sunday and the moles have freeways all over my yard.  The ground is so bumpy and I sink in where ever i walk.  If I could blow my yard up and start over i would.  I thought I killed them all last year.  I have tried the poison. I have tried the smoke bombs, traps, I even take a pitch fork and walk my yard like a crazy man.  Those damn things are getting my tulips that I work so hard to plant. YES i do put down grub killer 2-3 times a year.   I would hire someone if it would work.  REALLY I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO?  Can anyone help me Please?Wondering in Wixom!

HELP MY SISTER WITH A BABY NAME……UGHHHH

March 11th, 2009 by steve-grunwald-wycd

This is driving me nuts.  My sister is going to have another baby.  I think she wants to be the OCTO-MOM of Minnesota.  This will be baby #3.  Kaiya is 4 now and she is a monster.  Jagger is 2 and he is my godchild.  He is great and such a good baby.  We play cars & trucks when I visit. Oh and he loves to get all the books he can carry and have Uncle Steve read to him…Over and over and over.  So now that you know the two goofy names of my sisters kids guess what name my brother in law wants for the next baby?  I would give you 1000 zillion $ if you guessed it.  There is no way you will.  Ok it going to be another boy. The name……….CAYMAN.  Like the car or the small aligator.  I feel so badly for this baby.  My sister hates the name also.  I think its a dumb name.  What do you think?  Do you like it?  My sister Steph said that she would take suggestions for a boys name if you have any?  PLEASE HELP!!!!!Me ( Grunwald )
