“Eight ball corner pocket!” If life were a game of pool, this band certainly knows what it takes to win! Cowboy Alanand the Steel Horse Band have been turning heads since their debut in September of 2007. With a seemingly, nonstop schedule they have managed to spread their name around. From local honky tonks to major festivals this band is a real crowd pleaser!
In 2008, they enjoyed opportunities sharing the stage with such national artists as Trent Tomlinson, Billy Currington, and the legendary Sammy Kershaw. As well, they managed to enter the recording studio, to begin work on their debut CD, which features their hot single: “The Cowboy Code”. The CD is slated for an early May 2009 release featuring 11 additional tracks that will blow your boots off!
Each member of this five person band brings with them a versatility and background that draws from a variety of music, ranging from country to rock n’ roll. This act’s primary focus is to entertain you with that edgier rocking country that has taken over the country airwaves. You will not want to miss Michigan’s hottest new country act!
“Cowboy” Alan Turner, fronts the band as lead vocalist. Singing since he was a kid, he brings with him a voice that has been winning vocal competitions around the state of Michigan for years. Recently in 2007, Alan won the opportunity to be one of five who opened for Nashville recording artist, Keith Anderson. He’s also shared the stage over the years with Christian Grammy Award winners Steve Green and Larnell Harris. He has been called a cross between Garth Brooks and Toby Keith, energizing and wowing the crowd every night he performs.
J.T. Monroe, fills the lead guitar position perfectly! His hot electric riffs keep the crowd screaming for more! He brings with him an incredible stage presence that will just blow you away! He has been seen throughout the local country scene playing the local honky tonks and has played with artists like Kid Rock on VH1 and has opened for the likes of Jason Aldean, Neil McCoy and SheDaisy.
Billy Lee, has been playing the keyboard in clubs in southeast Michigan since the age of 21. He is a solid addition to the Steel Horse Band bringing that extra layer of sound so often found in modern country music. He has backed several Elvis Tribute artists over the years including the likes of Sherman Arnold, Elvis Shelton Goldrush and Matt King Elvis Tribute. He has also opened for the likes of Billy Ray Cyrus, John Michael Montgomery and Reba.
“Buffalo” Bruce McQueary, is a veteran of the local country, rock and blues scene. He lays down the bass, helping put the drive in the band’s rhythm section. It’s his contribution of strong vocal harmonies and an ear for music that have gained him the most respect with his fellow musicians. Bruce has been joined on the stage by national recording artist Skip VanWinkle (of Teegarden & VanWinkle fame) and has performed backing the well-known hit-makers The Drifters. He has performed at both Opryland Hotel and Tootsies Orchid Lounge in Nashville as well as on stages from Myrtle Beach to Colorado’s high plains and throughout Michigan.
Dave Piotrowski, rounds off the band as the professor of the drums and percussion! Born the son of a drummer, he’s been playing all his life! His first gig was at the age of 13. Versatile in many styles and genre, Dave brings with him a steady meter and love to play! Not egotistical… Just incredibly good!
