Lack of talent and experience is something you won’t find here. As a child, TJ Kelly was always in the spotlight. Whether it is singing for a group of friends or at a local talent show, TJ’s natural charisma commanded attention of everyone around him. Now as an adult, we have seen him share the stage with performers such as Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Sawyer Brown, and Bomshel, just to name a few.
TJ had sung many genre of music but he did not discover his true passion until one day his brother suggested he try country. As he remembers, “I thought me? Country? No way!” But it was the perfect fit. “After the first country tune I sang, I started to identify myself as a country artist and it was all I wanted to sing,” he recalls.
The utterly moving single “Daddy’s Genes” tells the story about a boy who witnesses his family falling apart because of his father’s infidelities and vows to not act like him when he is older. TJ explains, “This song is based on my life. I want people everywhere to know that no matter how bad things were, you don’t have follow in your families’ footsteps. You make your own destiny.”
Give a listen to "Daddy's Genes"
TJ Kelly is one of those rare artists who has it all; great singer, songwriter, and artist. It’s clear that he’s someone who doesn’t think in terms of limits, but one who sees everything being possible for his music and his career. He concludes, “I work really hard on my music. I’m just trying to give people what they want and what they can relate to.”
