Doop & The Inside Outlaws

Detroit has always been known for its thriving music scene and diverse musical artists. From the blue-collared heavy music of Bob Seger to the rap-rock of Kid Rock, the city has consistently produced music that has captured the hard-working-harder-playing essence of the “Motor City.”

Embodying this hard-working spirit is singer-songwriter Don “Doop” Duprie and The Inside Outlaws. Born and raised in the industrial enclave of River Rouge, MI, this son of an auto mechanic and an Avon lady learned early on that hard work and doing the right thing always provided for his family. A veteran firefighter, Doop now conveys that same work ethic and honesty in all aspects of his musical career as a full-time singer/songwriter signed to a publishing deal with Nashville based Highland Publishing. He now divides his time between the two music cities.

Seeking an outlet for his lifelong passion for music and songwriting, Doop founded the first edition of the Inside Outlaws collective in 2005 with longtime friend and co-writer Ty Stone. The Inside Outlaws are a nationwide group of singer-songwriters dedicated to developing new talent through education and networking. In 2006 they established a relationship with Kid Rock and Ty Stone which eventually led to Stone being signed to Top Dog/Atlantic Records.

  "Blood River"

Doop garnered three nominations in the 2008 Detroit Music Awards for “Outstanding Country Artist, Songwriter and for his debut album, Blood River, recorded with legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond (White Stripes). Blood River  features ten songs that vary from down-home country rock and heartfelt Americana ballads to gritty Detroit rock 'n’ roll. Each song tells the story of living life in a place that was once a burgeoning city and dealing with life’s trials and tribulations, it has found fans in listeners who appreciate good honest music that comes from straight from the soul. It’s Americana-Detroit style! The album received many favorable reviews from music magazines and websites across the globe and significant airplay on a number of Americana /country and rock radio shows worldwide and was also voted one of Detroit Metrotimes top ten local records of 2008. Here are a couple reviews :

”Blood River by Doop & The Inside Outlaws is the real deal -- a raw, honest mix of workingman's country and rock 'n' roll from the heartland that swaggers like The Waco Brothers.” ~Cat (Radio Free Americana DJ)

“True country music loyalists rejoice! "Blood River," the debut album by Doop and the Inside Outlaws, has more twang than you can shake a stick at, but it packs enough wallop to not be categorized as a "tear in my beer" country album. This album rocks harder than most country CD's I've heard. There's attitude a plenty.”  ~Ray Anderson, TheCelebrityCafe.com
