I was born and raised in Grandville, Michigan, southwest of Grand Rapids, graduated Grandville High School in 19-something (thank you Mark Wills). Then moved to Western Michigan University for a few years and started my radio career at WMU's student run radio station 89.1 WIDR-FM. Then worked at 103.3 WKFR in Kalamazoo (my 1st paid radio gig), after a few years there I moved to CK105.5 in Flint, then 102.5 WIOG in Saginaw, followed by 96.9 WBTI in Port Huron, and the last decade at 99.5 WYCD in Detroit which was briefly interrupted by an 18 month stint at the redneck station in Ann Arbor. Also, gained a B.A. in psychology at Wayne State University during the same decade.
I have two parents, and one older brother. My older brother has given me a niece and nephew which has taken a lot of pressure off of me because my mom finally has grandchildren. I like to exercise, ride my motorcycle, scuba dive, and go on vacations to all parts of the world. My favorite foods are seafood, sushi, Mexican, good steaks, and anything my mom makes.
My favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, The Blues Brothers, Animal House, Chaplin,and every single Robin Williams movie ever made (although some are better than others are). My favorite TV shows are The Dick Van Dyke Show (Mary Tyler Moore is dreamy), MASH, and Seinfeld. I religiously watch "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart and "The Colbert Report." I find it funny that Mr. Colbert hates and fears bears, yet his name is pronounced cole-bear and he referres to his idol Bill O'Riley as "Pappa Bear." Self loathing possibly?
My favorite books are Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (I get scared every time), Green Eggs and Ham is good too, but it makes me hungry. I also like Night by Elie Wiesel, Travels by Michael Chrichton, and most recently two Robert Persig books, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Lila. Currently reading Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse.
My most memorable artist interview was Weird Al, man he was really…uh, kind of umm…goofy?!? He sucked the feet of a co-worker while we were chatting over breakfast.
I have one cat named Magic she is black. Her brother, Merlin, is being chased by the two dogs I had while growing up, a Black Labrador named Daisy and Golden Retriever named Lady. They are currently residing in “doggie heaven.”
