Jack Ingram hosts American Airlines In Flight Music!

Jack Ingram's American “Harvest”
Hosts American Airlines In Flight Music in May!

Nashville: In the last week, 2009 WYCD Hoedown Artist Jack Ingram (SEE VIDEO BELOW!) has been cited by USA Today as their Pick of the Week in any genre for “Barefoot and Crazy,” been deemed one of the Hottest Guys in Country Music by People and watched “Barefoot and Crazy” take another 3 slot leap from 29 to 26 on both the Billboard/Radio & Records and Mediabase Country Singles chart, as well as singing the National Anthem for the Mavericks' first home play-off game, rocking the Texas Rangers' fans after a game and participating in a Songwriters' Panel for Texas Monthly's August issue with Guy Clark, Patty Griffin, Robert Earl Keen and Sonny Throckmorton. With all that, it's a wonder Ingram could find the time to host American Airlines' Harvest Channel on their in-flight entertainment, and yet…

“Other than playing and writing, I think turning people onto music is my favorite thing in the world,” Ingram says. “And any time I've ever been on American Airlines' in-flight playlists, I can't tell you the people who come up to me and have heard it… So to be able to play some of my songs and some songs by people I really dig, well, that's a pretty cool deal.”

Beyond his own hits - like the #1 “Wherever You Are,” the CMT Wide Open Country winner “Love You” and his recent props-to-the-working-Joe “That's A Man” - Ingram went into his vast notion of country to pull songs by Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Bruce Robison, Gary Allen and many more. Because to Jack Ingram, country isn't one place, face, time or sound.

“I was a little surprised at how much music they had,” he admits. “But it was also really cool that they let me pull something like Bruce's version of 'Angry All The Time,” which Tim McGraw had a hit with… "To pull a classic bit of Willie… or 'Watching Airplanes,' my favorite Gary Allen song, which just seemed so obvious how could you not? It was fun doing tit… It really was.”

Fun seems to be something the man who's been mixing shows around the nation with myriad dates around Texas is having plenty of. As he finishes his late August Big Dreams & High Hopes, Ingram is watching his fastest single move up the charts in 8- and 3-place jumps, and feels like he's tapped into the essence of what summer should be.

“It's such a top down, nothing can bother me kind of song,” Ingram admits with a laugh. “You know, no matter how bad it is, there's something about just taking off… not even going anywhere special… with someone you're into… that just fixes a lot of problems. It doesn't change anything really, but just that break that sets you free, it puts you back in your life in a way that makes you feel better! And I can't think of a better time of year than right now to do that: to get a little barefoot and crazy.”

USA Today proclaimed “With its promises of cool, wet kisses, a blazing sun and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band songs sung during a romantic weekend camping trip, 'Barefoot and Crazy' is shaping up to be one of country music's hottest summertime singles…,” giving Ingram a leg up on this coming months' good times. With an appearance on CBS' “George Strait: Academy of Country Music Artist of the Decade” special May 27, he's got a lot more fun to have.

Jack Ingram tells more at the 2009 WYCD Hoedown before he took the stage on Saturday, May 16th in Hart Plaza, downtown Detroit, before nearly 1 million fans!  Watch the video here!
