Toby Keith Recognized by the CRB, Inc. as Artist Humanitarian of the Year

Each year, Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. recognizes one of the many deserving country artists with it's Artist Humanitarian Award. This year during the opening ceremonies of the 38th Annual Country Radio Seminar, CRB recognized Toby Keith.

Last year’s honoree was Neal McCoy, who announced Toby Keith as the recipient of 2007 CRB Humanitarian Award. CRB President R. J Curtis presented the actual award to Keith, following Keith’s performance at the Country Radio Seminar’s Music City Jam.

The Toby Keith Foundation was formed in January 2006 to facilitate his efforts on behalf of a number of organizations in Oklahoma. Those include Ally’s House, where children with cancer can get help with medical bills, short term housing, travel clothing, groceries and other needs. It is estimated that Toby Keith donates more than a half a million dollars a year to this cause alone. Keith also helped Red Oak Elementary School in Moore Oklahoma to build a new gymnasium after a 1999 tornado ravaged that town, and also made donations to the Moore community and the Beth Haven Independent Church in Moore. His participation in Country In The Rockies benefited the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories for Cancer Research, a division of the T. J. Martell Foundation. He has also been a major contributor to the Make A Wish Foundation, St. Jude and The Salvation Army among many others charities.   In June of 2006, Toby Keith completed his fourth USO Tour. The rest of the year, he meets military families at shows and visits soldiers in hospitals.

The Country Radio Broadcasters leads the industry in recognizing the humanitarian achievements of Country artists. In 1990, CRB instituted an Artist Humanitarian Award, which was first presented during the 21st Country Radio Seminar. Past honoree’s have included Diamond Rio, Brad Paisley, Lonestar, Brooks & Dunn, Collin Raye, Clint Black, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie, Billy Ray Cyrus, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Willie Nelson, Roseanne Cash and Alabama.
